:dunno: Hello all
Got a question, my little Pikachu has muscle spasms after we play and I place her in the cage. It almost always begins as soon as I sit her down, and only then. SHe never does it when out of the cage or before I pick her up. Is this something I need to be concerned about? she is only three months old and my first one.

Which part of her body is having the spasms? and what does it look like?

Do you mean like a rhythmic twitch? That is perfectly normal. :)

Herbie does this too. It is normal. He usually does it when he is settling down and is getting ready to sleep. He does this little body twitch. Don't really know why they do it....might be muscles relaxing or something like that.

Spiny does that when he's positioning himself for a good nap.

My hedgie, Guinness, does this too.

He doesn't like being out in the open. He always has to hide. He's learn that when I take him from his cage and put him on my lap he can find a quick hiding spot by scurring up my shirt and into the collar of my neck. It doesn't matter how straight up I sit...he frantically starts the upward climb. It's kind of funny to watch. If you didn't know any better, you'd think something was after him. He just HAS to get under some kind of cover. Heaven forbid he spend any time out in the open with me. :)

Anyhow...he then usually finds a comfortable spot on my chest and starts doing exactly what you are describing...a kind of rythmic muscle twitch. I assumed it was normal as he's always done it. I had never read any postings about it. It's good to know it's normal!

Thanks everyone for the info... The muscle spasms run along the top of her back and they only last like maybe 10 to 20 or more seconds. So is this really normal?

Also Pika was really gaining weight as I guess I was feeding her allot (3Tb per day) then I read that I should only give her 1Tb. so I cut back b/c I then read you should only give her as much as she can eat in 15 minutes. I am so confused :O . because now she seems as she lost allot of weight. some one give me guidance PLEASE!!!

Is that the thumping noise I hear coming from Harley's igloo? I thought maybe he might be scratching or something. It's a really quick *THUMPTHUMPTHUMP* for a few seconds and then it stops.

The thumpthumpthump would probably be scratching. The twitch is silent.
