My breeder sent along a container of food for Harley, which she said should last a week. Judging by how much he's eating, it's more like 3 months worth of food.

I have a small dish in his cage for food and water, I know he must be eating -some- of his food but I don't see a big difference in how much is in there in the morning.

I've tried mixing carrots and mealworms (I have these exo terra canned mealworms, was all I could find... need to find a petstore that has the big fat live ones) but in the morning the mealworms and carrots were gone and the food was still there.

He is 3 months old, how much should he be eating each day?

Also, I weighed him and he weighs 212 g - ish (he wouldn't keep still) Is this big for such a young hoglet? I''ve been reading about the weight of some of the adult hedgies on here and it seems big. Is he huge or was I lied to about his birth date or something? hehe

His food intake will increase once he is more comfortable with you. The often don't eat as much when first in a new home. Count his kibble and you will see exactly how much he eats. Some eat 10 per night, others eat up to 60.

I'm having the same problem! And it's worrying me too, my Hedgie doesn't seem to be drinking either. =C
Sorry, this is kind of a useless post. Hope things get better.

`angela..
are you using a bottle or a dish to give water? My hh seems to rotate between which she is drinking out of. One day I see a noticable drop in level in the bottle, the other the croc is half empty.

I have found that my hh's intake is easiest measured when feeding from a very shallow dish. I layered the bottom completely with a little piled on top and she ate through to the bottom layer (she ate over half). I keep a good amount in there, and I dont worry so much about how much she has eaten because I can see that she has in the morning. I do weigh her about once a week, or whenever I can't tell if she has eaten in a couple of days. (Nancy, does this sound solid, or should I be taking more of an interest in fiona's intake?)
