i need someone to give me a good method of relieving all these dumb period symptoms. Like normally 2 pamprin and a heating pad for about 15 mins will help, but these cramps this months are just terrible. Not to mention I'm REALLY dizzy, sick to my stomach (happened once when I first got my period like 5 years ago) and i have intestinal cramping going along with the whole thing. Help??

Lay off sugars and carbs - they make it worse. Take calcium-magnesium large doses. Get it from a health food store, read on the label, if diarrhea develops cut back. (Some diarrhea may be normal at start of period).
I used to take a large dose of Cal-Mag when my cramps were bad, about 30-45 min later the cramps were gone! Cal-Mag is a natural tranquilzer and muscle relaxer.
Maybe take extra iron in your multivits, to help with dizzy, sick and weak. Eat good protein.
Just some ideas, hope they're helpful! Hope ya feel better!

Motrin or Midol, hot bath, exercise (stationary bike, regular bike, brisk walking). Another thing you can do that always works for my daughter is lay flat on your back next to a well, and extend your legs up the wall, straight out. Just lay there for a while and if you have it a heating pad or hot water bottle on your stomach helps a lot as well. Other than that, good suggestions given above, especially getting some protein in there for the dizziness.

We get to deal with endometriosis here. We are the queens of cramps. Best thing I ever did was go on birth control pills. No more pain!

Anaprox taken at the first hint of a cramp usually works. The downside is, Anaprox can make you sleepy.

I suffered with cramps all my life and as a teen spent 2 days a month in bed with the heating pad and vomiting. Everyone assured me after I had children the cramps would be gone. WRONG! They were as bad as ever. The pill was the best thing ever invented as far as I'm concerned.

I agree with tunes, about the Midol and BCP. I'm not too familiar with the other methods people mentioned, except a heating pad, which I have also heard works. Also, sometimes a deep massage of the area may help. I think this helps a little more with uterine cramping, as opposed to pain from ovulation at your ovaries, but it wouldn't hurt (hopefully) to try.

BCPs can really be a miracle of modern technology... They can help regulate your cycle, can reduce the heaviness of menstruation, and basically get rid of cramping. The downside is money, and it may take a month or two or three to get all the kinks worked out. It's one of those long term investment things :)

Good luck... I hope you feel better! Cramps can be a real pain in the... well, you know. :p

Okay, I am the queen of knock you out period cramps. So, when someone says theirs are especially bad, it worries me. Make sure your mom knows, and maybe a trip to the gyno just to make sure everything is okay. I have endometriosis, so basically I go catatonic with pain - which is not normal. I find that if at all possible staying active helps keep the pain at bay, I especially find swimming and water aerobics to be helpful. I hope you feel better. :)

Oh I just say your thread tunes! Did you have to have the surgery for that?

If you have serious problems, I know some people that have had luck with this (http://www.naprotechnology.com/pms.htm). I don't have severe cramps or anything so I can't really help. I take one pamprin my first day and I'm fine. If you're dizzy, definately add more protein into your diet.

Prozac is what the "this" is talking about. NO way!! It has dangerous side affects and this type of drug is not the answer!!

Prozac is what the "this" is talking about. NO way!! It has dangerous side affects and this type of drug is not the answer!!

"At the present time, Prozac is considered the treatment of choice for women with premenstrual syndrome. However, in comparing targeted hormonal supplementation (cooperative progesterone replacement therapy) with Prozac, the targeted hormonal therapy is significantly more effective. In addition, the treatment effect is much more rapid in onset and helps attain the normal physiology of a woman so she actually feels more normal and does not feel “drugged.” "

That is from the linked website. It did not say that prozac was the answer. Quite the opposite actually. The "this" is referring to targeted HCG and progesterone hormone therapy.
