SO my rescued hedgehog is being weaned, and lordy I have tried introducing everything to him, but he is a picky eater. I have tried pecans, which he actually does like, goat's milk with honey, banana which he eats occasionally, and avocado. Things he does NOT like: Royal Canine kitten hard food, Iams wet kitten food, meal worms, catepillars, organic fancy all natural kitten food chicken with rice, apple, pear, dried fruits such as papaya and melon, juicing pulp, earthworms and thats not even the end of it. He has his teeth, and I should be weaning him now, so I know they need a variety of food, but I can't get him to really eat anything other than goat's milk. I am worried that I have a difficult hedgie that will not make the transition over to solid food easily, anybody know if this is normal? Any tips??

You need to keep up with the goats milk. They don't wean overnight and even once they are starting to eat solid food they still nurse from mom so the goats milk is important for a while longer.

Nuts of any type should NEVER be fed as they can get caught in the roof of his mouth and then they can't eat or they can claw their eyes out trying to dislodge the nut.

Babies aren't difficult to get eating solid food. They will do it naturally when they are ready as long as the food is not to hard for them. :)
