Well everyone... you know what follows fall!!
Winter... *grumble grumble*
So, with the onset of this cooler weather, I went out and bought those little hand warmer things that you shake to activate FOR EMERGENCIES. But of course, I would wrap them in several blankets (and possibly just attatch to the roof of the carrier) before putting it anywhere near Spiny.
What does everyone else do/recommend?

It's already getting below freezing here, and I'm beginning to discover what a hassle the boys are. :/
When I bought Vincent, I was under the impression we'd be moved into our new house by November. I'd have my own bedroom, which I'd share with them, and I could keep the heat in one room.
The walls in the new house aren't even up. We're not getting in there until next spring. So now I'm freaking out and trying to find a way to keep the guys warm.
They're in a really open part of the house, so it's not like I can shut the door and heat up the room. I've got a radiator and a ceramic heater running full-time near their cages, a blanket draped over one side to keep away those drafts, and their snugglesafes are being microwaved every time they get cool.
I also got some of those handwarmers too! :) For emergencies, because we get blackouts often here, but I've got my fingers crossed that I won't need to use them.

Vincent, go get two ceramic heat emitters and the wire fixtures for them plus the thermostat that controls the temperature. There are two outlets on the thermostat so it will control both emitters. They work great and will keep the cages warm and you don't have to heat up the whole area they are in.

My mom says I'm not allowed to have ceramic heaters on unless they're supervised, so that wouldn't be an option at night, but where can I buy them? And for how much? :)

Yea, I'm not worried about the heat in here. Our superintendent's already got the heat on for the entire building... and it's HOT in here. lol. Well, it's comfortable for me... but bf complains... :P

No, this isn't a ceramic heater as such. It is basically like a light bulb. It is for reptiles and is like the infrared light bulbs but it produces heat with no light. It is just as safe as a lightbulb and it uses no more electricity than a similiar sized lightbulb. As in a 100 watt heat emitter uses the same amount of electricity as a 100 watt light bulb.

I've used those ceramic heat emitters (for birds, reptiles, etc) for years without a problem. I use one of those clamp-on light fixtures, like you would use in a workshop, or on a reptile cage. Just make sure it is SECURELY fastened to something. It only gives off heat, not light. I would put it on one side of the cage to allow them a "cooler side" they can retreat to so your babies don't overheat. I use this alot for sick birdies, and for the nocturnal reptiles. Just make sure they can escape the hot side if they want to. My electric bill is already through the roof keeping the chins cool enough - lol. I don't notice any cost with the emitters - LOL.
FREEZING????? Did you say freezing????? It's still in the 90's here! AGGGHHHHHH!

LOL! Okay! :D I'll definitely mention these to my mom and dad, although they'd expect me to pay for however much it costs to run two full-time. I've got my fingers crossed... hope to goodness it isn't much.
Any idea where I could buy these, and for how much? If it's more than I can afford, I'm gonna have to get a job, and I don't want to leave that until the last minute.
Yes. ;) It's getting to about -10 (C) every night. My parents keep the house at a consistant 60 (F), so I've been struggling to keep their cages above 80. The sooner I can get some reliable heaters, the better!

You'll just have to do what you have to do the best you can. I am sure you are aware of attempted hibernation and the results that can happen. Nancy has a great idea and coming from her, I would have all the faith needed to believe it would work. Taking on hedgies is not the easiest thing to do. Kudo's to you for trying so hard.

I think that the ceramic bulbs were posted somewhere here. Do a search for them. I think you can buy them online.
