Hi Everyone
My fiancé and I have a most intriguing opportunity to invest in a plush hedgehog of my own design :D I've been creating 3D hedgehogs in a game called SecondLife and we’ve decided to take one of my creations and incarnate it ‘in the plush’. I’ve posted this poll to ask for your help deciding which colour of hedgehog to make.
I’m going to be devising and prototyping it myself, I’d absolutely love any advice and input from the community here. As much as possible I want this to be as realistic and true to the species as possible (not European like almost all the hedgie toys out there :rolleyes: )
Some of the characteristics I’m working on:
- Soft leathery nose and ears
- Banded quills / quill-material
- A reverse mohawk (not overly noticeable but definitely there)
- Darker face mask (it’ll definitely be Algerian: I love cheek patches :D )
- Cute little feet, hopefully with small nails
- Belly button? (still debating about this one, it would certainly add realism )
We’re hoping to make between 500-1000 plush hedgies, mostly likely numbered and collectable. These will be very high-quality plush toys manufactured by a company that specializes in custom-made animal designs, estimated to be about 15-20$ US including shipping. Once I have them prototyped and in production (I’ll announce here when I do), any chins-n-quills member will be welcome to PM me to reserve one or more plush hedgies.
I’ll keep you updated here as the creation process continues, once the prototyping is done I’ll be able to post pictures of the final product. I am hoping to get them created as quickly as possible, although there is still a minimum of 3-5 months before they will be available for purchase.
(My apologies that the poll doesn’t contain a lot of the lighter colours like cinnicot, apricot or albino. I’m hoping for the first plush to at least be similar to one of the eight hedgies in our herd :D if the first plush toy is popular enough we’ll make another one and the lighter colours will definitely be on the list for consideration)
