HERD REDUCTION SALE
Many of you know that I have two small children. Well, they are just not so small anymore and their activities are increasing every day it seems. With all of these new things going on in my life I have decided that I will be cutting down on my herd size. I just don't think I will have the time to keep up with 100 chinchillas.

I will be at the Rock Hill show in November and will be happy to bring chinchillas to anyone who is coming and would like to buy something. I hope to have a complete list of chinchillas listed on the site well before then, but I am still evaluating the herd and deciding who to keep and who to sell. If you are looking for something specific please let me know and will see what I can do. I may have some breeding pairs for sale as well but I'm not positive yet.

I will have many proven breeder females for sale, I am just having to wait for them to deliver their current babies and wean them before I can let them go.

By the way...I will NOT have ranch runs or other cages for sale. I have a feeling that this is only a temporary cut back so I will be keeping all of my cages.

Also, I have a few special "cull" chinchillas that have been removed from breeding over the years due to fur biting. These will be put up for adoption for very low adoption fees so if you are looking for something pet quality in a certain price range me know that as well.

Serious inquires only please. We Do NOT Ship

Please visit our site at: http://www.huggablepets.com/huggablepets/forsale1.shtml
for the current list of available chinchillas and don't hesitate to contact me if you are looking for something specific or something in a certain price range.

http://www.huggablepets.com/huggablepets/redball.jpgBlack Velvet (eb carrier) Male $275
born 10-20-03
I bought this male from Ralph Shoots
He is beautiful with a bright white
belly, however, all of his babies have
a grey belly. They are all extreamly
dark from birth so this guy would be
a wonderful assest to an ebony breeding
program. VERY BLOCKY!

http://www.huggablepets.com/huggablepets/redball.jpgH22 Beige (eb carrier) Female $100
born 5/29/03
This girl has good genetics and a
wonderful build for breeding but her
fur never looks smooth. She is a
very calm sweet girl and would make a
wonderful pet. I prefer not to place
her with a family with small children
as I belive she would be happier in a
quiet house.

I have a 4 month old female(Mosiac) I think that's how you spell it. She is my 1st chin and I think she would be happier with a playpal. So I am just look for a pet. I don't want a standard but I'm not certain what age or sex would be best for a buddie. :dunno:

Whether to choose a male or a female will depend on if your female has a good background and is good quality and whether you have a good vet that knows about chinchillas. If your answer to those questions is yes you could consider a male, but you would need to wait until your girl is between 8 months and 1 year before you pair them together. Otherwise she may not be large enough to safely deliver her kits. Male/female pairs bond easier but breeding can be tough and costly if things go wrong.

At 6 months she may still be young enough to pair with another female, but you would need to keep them in cages side by side at first. If you put them together too fast they could fight to the death. Females are harder to pair together because they are very territorial.

I appreciate the info so greatly. I had no idea that I needed to wait to she was a little older to pair her with male or female. As so her background, well, I got her at petstore cause she was so cute and never thought about asking anything otther than her sex and age. Of course, I doubt they would have even known. Then only other thing they told me was that she was a mosiac, if that is even how you spell it! I don't even know what mosiac is!
