I pick up my hedgie Saturday. She is 7 weeks and is quilling, that should make for an interesting ride:) I still have no name for her, but I am looking.

We have Blue Bullalo, and the breeder is using Purina One lite cat food, so we are going to mix that in. I have a huge cage, a 12in silent spinner, aspen bedding (that lived in the deep freeze for about a week to kill any possible mites), a hedgie bag, water dish and bottle, food dish, igloo, tp tube, balls, blanket, and space heater to keep the room at 75-80 during the winter. I just installed a door there too to help with drafts from the other parts of the house. Is there anything I am missing??? We will probably be replacing the Purina One with CSFTLS or Royan Canin (more than likely CSFTLS). We get a bag, and a couple of weeks of food from the breeder when she comes. I also get a book. We have a digital scale that is capable of about 5 lbs, and can measure in oz. so I think we are covered there. I will send pix when I get her home.

Sorry bout the long post.

New babies are so exciting! It sounds like you have it covered. The only other thing I did before my first hedgie came home was made sure I had the name and number of a vet that could care for him if he got sick.

She was a doll at the breeder when I picked her up. She would unball for me but not the breeder. She is really huffy now, but she has had a very long and probably stressful day. I took about half an hour to cuddle/hold her tonight, will do the same for about an hour tomarrow. I am thinking of calling her Fiona because she is sweet, cute, and cuddly but has a prickly side (ogre anyone).

cortni<3,
you have no idea... I actually hung a door to keep drafts out of the room she is staying in. I have 2 hedge bags, like 3-4 blankets, and I even put a space heater in the room to keep it a nice 75 in there. The space heater seems to fluctuate between 72 and 78. The temps dont. but the heater does becuause hot air gets trapped by it:)
