I'm wondering if cooked, plain, whole wheat couscous is an acceptable treat for hedgies. The only ingredient is organic whole durum wheat semolina. I know that cooked pasta is OK for a treat, so I'm thinking that couscous is probably OK - I just want to be sure. Can't take any risks with my little one!

The only thing I can think of is that it might stick to the roof of their mouth. Hedgies have been known to claw their own face if something gets stuck to the roof of their mouth.

Well, if you look at the ingredients on a bag of cat food, they ususally list a grain as thier first ingredient. It is a FILLER. Meat would be better because it has protien.
I would say that they get enough grain (rice, pasta, wheat, etc.) from the dry kibble.

Hmmm... between those two factors, I think we'll skip couscous for a treat! Thank you.

Actually, couscous IS a pasta...it just looks somewhat like a grain. (My brother in law is Moroccan!).
In some of my attempts at preparing couscous I have often had it where it isn't sticky...not always preferable when those at the table are used to getting a nibblet of something else off the tray and rolling a little ball of couscous to pop into their mouth with the nibblet! lol
