I got some baby meat sticks to try on Pixie but I wasn't sure how much to give her...a whole stick?? Plus the jar goes bad after a few days are there ways to help them last longer or no?

I'm sorry, I don't know the answer to your question, but I'm wondering where you got them? I have looked at every supermarket within ten miles of me, and I can't find them anywhere! :dunno:

I buy the gerber meat sticks for toddlers. Find them in the baby food aisle at the grocery store. They do go bad after a few days but my boys love the chicken and turkey ones. I use 1 whole meat stick for two hogs. cut up in little pieces.

Could you not freeze them to keep them from going bad?

thats what I was wondering, but the jar they come in has liquid in it too. Kind of like a pickle jar I guess, so i'm not sure how I would freeze them or if it would even work. Not a huge deal, it's only like a dollar a jar or something.

I had to really really search in the baby food section of the grocery store. I bought the gerber kind but they were in a slightly different part of the aisle than the regular pureed food. i guess you could call it toddler food...

Ummm... What are meat sticks? I tried to give Spiny some turkey and he just sniffed it (some even got on his nose and he wouldn't even lick it off!).
But that's what he did with mealworms when he first had them... now he loves them!

they kinda look like tiny hot dogs (but with better quality meat!!) that are intended for toddlers starting on solid foods. They have Chicken and Turkey ones and can be found in the baby food section at the grocery...

My questions were for naught anyway, she can't really decide if she cares about them or not. She'll smell them for like 10 minutes but never take a bite...

i would imagine they will be fine in the freezer. You can take them out of the water(thats all it is they are in, & put them into freezer zip locks.) Then when you want to give them to your hog, just heat it up. I dont see how that could be bad.

Aha! I'm not insane. I've been looking everywhere for these things and couldn't find them anywhere. I just checked the Gerber site, and apparently they don't sell these in Canada! That being said, if anyone in Canada (preferably the Calgary, AB area) has found them, please let me know where!
