How about cereal bran ?

I have been read that we can increase fibre to our hedgie food by adding cereal bran.

I have a question, Should I cook any cereal bran before use, or I can add a raw cereal bran to my hedgie food ?

I have Grape-nuts cereal and I mix some in with a bit of wet cat food because otherwise he won't eat it... but that's all I do, no cooking or anything else... but I don't know if it differs with the cereal...
