So we went out tonight and got Chuck a huge house! It's 2' tall, 1' wide, and 2' long! It has two ramps in it, a litter box, a HUGE wheel, and a little 'igloo' mini house! I think he likes it! We've got some pictures, but i've got to resize them and all, so I will post them later. It didn't even cost that much either?! I was shocked by that. hehe. But we are working on getting him to be more social so we moved it into the living room. We'll see how that works out! I will post the pics up later so everyone can tell me what they think!

Ramps and levels are no good for hedgehogs unless they are fully enclosed so the hedgehog cannot fall off the side.
A cage that provides more floor space on one level is a better option as not all hedgehogs will even use a second level. :)

Lucky hog! :p
Sometimes they get grumpy when they're in the living room though. I have Luna and Isis in there since it's warmer and they've both been huffier lately because they have to listen to the t.v, phone, us and all the noises we make. It might work for you though, it all depends on the hog. Luna isn't too social and Isis is going through her quilling/teenage phase so neither one is too happy about being there.

Herb won't come out with the tv on though. He hates the noise I guess. Snow doesn't care as long as the light is out. He loves to be up in the evening when we are around.

Yea, we have decided to take the ramps and shelves out. it's still a pretty big cage. and there is a huge wheel. My computer is being really retarded and won't let me put the pictures from my camera on here. So I have some figuring out to do, and the pics will hopefully be up. As far as him being in the living room, he seems to be okay with it, he seems to be running about more, and using his new wheel A LOT! And he seems to love his mini 'igloo' house! Although he did tip over his litter box, and that is now all over the place! And he tipped his water bottle off, I think he'll get used to it. thanks for the advice!

That's funny, I read that hogs need at least 14 hours of light per day, and yours loves it when the light is off! How cute! :hyper:

All hedgehogs love it when the lights are off. They are mostly nocturnal creatures and sleep during the day and come out at night when it is dark.
They do need 12-14 hours of light during the day even though they are sleeping they still need enough light.

A cage that provides more floor space on one level is a better option as not all hedgehogs will even use a second level. :)I have a cage where there are 3 levels, but we put the ramps in the up position because we didn't want Spiny crawling up there. It is made of large spaced wire mesh and it is not enclosed. So, needless to say, Spiny has never had access to the other levels.

Jeanette, I just read your signature, and that's the cutest thing ever....Chuck likes to dump his food bowl over....maybe so he can do the same thing!
