Someone else around here's having problems with wedding dresses.... There's this one that I like but it's online and I wanted to try on a similar dress before I attempted to buy it so I could see if the style would look ok on me. The problem is it is now being discontinued by the site (great sale on other Timeless dresses on this site if anybody wants to look, pricing starts at $200) and now I have to decide TODAY if I want to try and get one of the ones that are there. First come first serve basis I was told in an email by the owner last night... it's a good thing I had been in contact with her previously or she wouldn't have notified me in the first place. I like the dress, my fiance likes the dress, and it's only $400 now. Should I order it and hope it looks ok on me or should I hold out and hopefully not have to pay an insane price later on for a different dress. http://www.elegantgowns.com/store/dresses/show.php?id=CA7648&partner=NA

I would get it! You can always have it altered...or if you get it and don't really love it anymore you could e-bay it. I won my wedding dress through e-bay and loved it!!! (Couldn't try it on first either). Good luck with your wedding by the way! :hearts:

Good question: if you can return it if you try it on and it doesn't fit properly, get it if you feel like its the one. If not, I wouldn't risk it.

I voted yes, get it since $400 is a great price for a dress. However, have you considered Watters and Watters gowns? When I got married, I got a silk dress from them for $500 by phoning in my order through Pearl's Place in Louisiana (the retail price was $850). What I did was try on the dress in one bridal salon, then phone in the order to the other salon (Pearl's). I felt a little sneaky, but so many places gouge the bride and groom when they get married. Anyway, Pearl's place provides these deep discounts because they don't have to provide any real "service" to you; you just call, place an order, and they ship it to you when it's ready. Just a thought.

They have an awesome return policy except on clearance gowns... since this line is being discontinued it's clearanced hence no returns :( I figured I could sell it on ebay or even around town and get the $400 back if it couldn't be altered.

I've never heard of Pearl's Place... sounds like something I'd be interested in though. *makes note to look up stuff later*

I also recommend a great book called Bridal Bargains. They give tons of tips on how to save money, and I got the info on Pearl's place from them. The book is $15 and they guarantee you will save at least $500 or you can return the book to them directly and they'll refund your money.

I voted no only because there is no return policy and there's no guareentee you can make your money back by selling it on ebay. But in the end it's your choice :)

I wouldn't do it. You can always find a cheaper gown at other stores. Don't feel pressure to buy it, it's a big descision. I felt the same way about a dress I looked at. I definately needed to try dresses on, in order to find the right style. You can love a dress on the hanger put it on and think, "what was I thinking?" or vice versa. I had dresses fit me from a 0- 14 go figure, all companies are different. You can always take a dress in but can only let out so far.
