Let's hope so, because I'm nervous; I don't want a seamstress to mess up the vision.
I have this huge fear that I'm a bridezilla, hahha.

It's okay... believe me they do more difficult stuff everyday!
Plus you can have them put it all in place and show it to you BEFORE they finish it, just so you can be sure that's what you want!

Look. It's almost the exact same dress. She wants $900 for it.
Thoughts?
It might be easier than the other dress.

It's going to have to be your call...
You know my opinion on the price, but be sure to notice it has been altered... this leaves less room for alteration. Each body is different, I personally had to get a size 18 and have about 2 inchs taken out of each size because of the shape of my rib cage.
Have you contacted any seamstresses? ;)

I've tried, but I still do'nt know where to find one. A lot of the seamstresses in the area already work for bridal shops and don't have time to do things on the side.
Any suggestions?
Chris' feelings about the price are the same as yours, Riven. I can't say that I entirely disagree. It just stinks, because I don't know what to do.

Just thought I'd add my .02 here. Even If you are getting your dress altered professionally, please be wary of alteration costs! I spent just $250 fixing a hem and putting a bustle on my dress. That was more than half of what my dress cost in the first place! Also, I know ebay has great deals and all, but keep in mind that wedding dresses sizes tend to run larger than normal dress sizes. I normally wear 1s and 3s but I had to get a wedding dress size 6. Just some more things for you to think about before you make your decision. Good luck! :)

Silverrose, I usually wear a 6 or 8, and most dresses I have been trying on are 10s, so hopefully it would be ok.
$250 is INSANE.

They tend to run smaller. The size I mean, a 10 fits like a 6 per se, so it's small for a "10".
LMAO< sorry, try adding that $250 onto a $900 dress instead of a $100 dress!
I know a lady here who could do it, but she's here and you're not... Have you talked to the seamstesses or the dress shops they work with? Because the shops will tell you they're busy if they are or not. They don't want to lose their seamstress to a higher paying job.
Also try any sewing shops, or even craft stores, like JoAnns. Seamstresses deal with these people and know them, so usually they have a list. Look up sewing in the yellow pages of your phone book, usually someone who just works out of their home will do it cheaper, but you could also look up seamstress and or tailoring in the yellow pages too.

I called someone right after I read your post, and she seemed nice... didn't really speak a lot of english, and thinks my name is "Larissa" (my real name is Melissa, not Misty). She seemed nice enough, and when I told her that the other dress was out of my price range, she totally understood. I may go by there if I have a chance, but her hours are rough for me.

See if you can take a long lunch and work later maybe.
If nothing else you can always go to the dress shop and make them an offer... if they can sell these dresses on clearance for $50 -$200... you know they're marked up a ton. Just say hey, I found a dress almost JUST like this on-line for ... $700 I'd rather buy locally though, so what can YOU do for me?
I think you need to stop stressing... don't sweat the small stuff. If you don't stop you'll be like this until the wedding... I planned mine in 3 months, more stress? maybe, but it was over a lot sooner. I found the perfect dress and had it altered in less than 3 months... everything, done. So calm down, and remember, you have plenty of time.... get the big stuff out of the way, where's it going to be at? Catering, Cake, officiant, bridal party, then move on to the next tier, appearal, colors, decor, flowers, transportation, invites, then next tier, favors, centerpieces, etc.
