I could help with a transport if you find a chin down my way. I am through Boone several times a year visiting family in TN.
I also know there is a good exotics vet in Johnson City if your vet in Boone doesn't see chins. I can't remember the name of the place right off...
You need to do a lot of research before getting a chin. Like hedgies, when they do require a vet visit, it can be quite on the expensive side. Also, the temperature requirements are very different. I wouldn't mind having a hedgie, but we keep it way too cool in our house to have one.
My best advice is to read up as much as you can and ask lots of questions until you find your chin. You need to be sure you have the necessities, as well.
