I was at Pet Co today in the south west suburbs of Chicago and they have a hedgehog up for adoption. He is 1 1/2 years old and his name is Moe. I am assuming a he, it did not say. He comes with his cage, wheel, a water bottle, food dish, and food, and hedgehog information sheet. He was curled up in his bed, and I did not get to hold him. I think the adoption fee is $50 at Pet Co. If anybody is interested let me know and I will tell you which Pet Co.

Okay - I called about the hedgie. My only problem is that I can't get to Downer's Grove until Friday afternoon. The lady I spoke to said that he'd been there for a few days... that not many people knew about him.. and that she didn't expect him to be adopted quickly. She took my name and number and offered to call me if he's still there on Thursday.

I'm hoping .. sort of... that he's still there. Sort of not, 'cause maybe that means he'll get into a real home sooner, but I really want to be his home, so ... I'm still hoping. :)

Cross fingers for me, if you would! :-)

I have to wonder if the hedgehog in question is actually with a rescue organization and not Petco? Last time I checked PetCo didn't have a USDA license and didn't intend to get one. Anyone know if that changed?

I'm wondering if this PetCo is like the one near me. My local one has rats, rabbits and guinea pigs regularly that are property of the humane society with a sign "Consider adopting a rescue before buying from a store".

I have no idea... I know the PetCo's I typically go to haven't had hedgehogs (though they sell VitaCrap food for hedgies).

Hopefully I'll find out on Friday when I go pick up the little guy. *crosses fingers again*

Well, Megan's informed me that someone beat me to him :( But - I guess they've been looking for about a year, so hopefully they've researched enough to give him a good home!

Now back to (im)patiently waiting for my breeder.....
