By bigger I mean thicker and more plump. It also looks browner. I'll try to get a pic. Is this normal?

Oh, sorry. I mean the palm of Sonic's right hand is thicker and more browner. It seems like it might be infected.

Um, this may sound really sarcastic of me, and I don’t mean it to but… are you sure it’s not just the starting of a poop boot?

In a lot of animals, infection may show symptoms of heat, discharge and pain. Is he favoring the foot at all? Is there any discharge or blood from it? When you touch it, does it feel warmer than the other foot? He may pull away when you touch it, or even bite you.

What I would suggest is gently rinsing off the foot. That way, you can rule out poop boots and clean his foot off to see if you can find a source for the irritation. Then, book him a vet appointment to rule anything else out.

On an aside, sometimes hedgehogs have slightly irregular sized paws. Just like humans, one foot (or hand) can be slightly larger than the other. In people, usually the dominant hand or foot is slightly larger than the other. I’m right handed and the fingers on my right hand are about a quarter of a centimetre longer than the ones on my left hand.
