I dont know if it is just me because I am a little more sensitive to the topic right now but apparently he returns early because of his safety?!?! He spent 10 weeks. I am not taking away that he is fighting in this war. I thank him for that.
BUT there are men and women out there that have severed years out there and several different times.. Their safety is at risk. Its WAR! Thats obvious that safety is a put at risk. Because he holds a title (third to the throne) he gets to leave early? He stated in an interview on E! that his conditions were fine. Why can he come home early and the others cant? The others all hold titles as well.. Husband, wife, fiance, daughter, son, aunt, uncle mother, father, sister, brother, lover, friend etc? Are their titles not as important?

Thought??

While I haven't read up or really watched the news on it, I think it may be in part because people/media found out where he was. If the 'enemy' decides to target him specifically because he's a public figure, not only is he in a lot of danger, but so are those around him.

Everyone in this war is at risk. Public figure or not. If the "enemy" for out ANY of there specific locations they would all be in danger. Their locations constantly change. And this may be one of those reasons.
When I looked into sending care packages they asked to sign something for the package to be forwarded because entire bases get changed. While the main part of the address may stay the same the zipcode changes..

Here's my thought. Harry wanted to go they didn't want him too. What I'm upset about is someone in the USA and yes I'm a proud American, blew the blackout they were suppose to honor to spill the story he was over there! That's what I'm upset about. Harry was serving, gladly, doing his duty and willingly risking his life as are everyone else over there--but because he is Bristish monarchy and in line for the crown--yes he is considered more at risk. You know we never have the Pres and Vice Pres in the same spot for those reasons--too much at stake if they both die. Everyone serving overseas should all be considered and treated equally, and honestly those were Harry's wishes--and once again the stupid--stupid--STUPID paparrazi ruined it.

yup. from what I've read, he didn't want to leave. The British media agreed to not disclose that he was in Afghanistan for not only Harry's sake, but the sake of the troops working with him.

The fact that he's royalty puts a HUGE target on his back and on the back of those in his unit. Yes, war is dangerous for everyone involved, but having the information that he's there makes it even more so for him and his unit.

They removed him for the other troops' safety as well, not just because he's royalty.

...and it wasn't "the paparazzi" who leaked the information. It was The Drudge Report (Matt Drudge), a political gossip and news blogger. He's also the one who "leaked" the pictures of Obama in the traditional Somali wear.

Well I guess in my mind paparazzi is anyone with no business butting in, and Matt certainly had no business butting in on this one. I have to say, even though I'm not British, I find it commendable that Harry choice to serve with his unit and wanted to be treated no differently. I've heard William feels the same but he is absolutely forbidden to serve during war as he is 2nd in line to the throne. Diana did well raising these young men.

It's not just for Harry's safety, but for those who work with him. It appears that had his location not been disclosed, he would not have been sent home. However, his location was disclosed and it puts him and those who work with him at more risk.

I feel sorry for Harry because he was doing what he wanted to do. I would hate to live my life in the public eye like that. Whoever spilled the beans on his location ought to be severely punished.

I think they did the right thing by pulling him out. He could be a potential target, even after he returns home. If no one had ever known he was there, there would have certainly been less to worry about. When he returns home he has to worry about being kidnapped, killed...can't go anywhere without the thought of it, I'm sure. We should all feel safe in our own homes, or when we go out. When you are overseas fighting, there is always that risk and that risk shouldn't linger when you return home. Home is supposed to be safe.

You do have to wonder if it was the media who leaked it, or the Royal family? They didn't want him there, but had agreed to let him go because he wanted to so badly. I think they probably wanted to have it leaked so they could bring him home.

I do feel bad for him and William. I saw in an interview they were talking about how they knew they were priveledged, and it had given them many opportunities they wouldn't have had otherwise, but they often wished to be regular boys. We would think about how nice it would be to grow up Royal, and they think about how nice it would be to be normal.

1) Husband, wife, lover, brother, sister is not a title. It is a relationship. A title is Lord, Lady, Baron, King, Queen, Prince, Prince, Empress etc etc...we don't have titles like that in the U.S., they are not allowed (which is why our President is Mr. President, not HRH)

2) He can come home because he's royalty and therefore a public figure, and therefore he is an increased risk to not only himself but to his fellow troops. Yes everyone at war is at risk, but do you honestly believe that "the enemy" would rather attack a a platoon of fathers, brothers, sisters, mothers, wives, cousins, husbands.....or try and kill the prince of England?

At least he went. The Bush twins didn't go, and their father was the one to declare war.
