i'm really confused. My hedgie is very huffy, its just his personality so whenever i pick him up, he always huffes and hisses and even klucks. i came home and he was sitting on his wheel and of course when i turn the light on he got into a ball. i went to pick him up and noticed he wasn't in a tight ball as usual and he did hiss once and it was very short.
then he just stayed in a loose ball in my hand, didnt hiss, nothing. when i put him down, he just would sit in a ball and come out a little but wouldn't move. i tried to feed him a mealie but he wouldn't eat it.
i put him on his heat pad and after 15 minutes he started to come out a ltitle more and he crawled over to my fireplace and is just sitting there. he would get up from his heatpad and get into stuff so i would pick him up and hed do the same thing and not move for another 15 minutes and then crawl around again. now hes just sitting in front of the fireplace. he did eat a meal worm but didnt want another. im trying to feel his stomach to see if its cold but he wont let me and hes not wobbling. he has tried to hibernate once when i first got him and didnt realize my room was cold but its different this time. i can pick him up and he wont hiss or anything and hes just like...not moving.
i dont think its an emergency cuz he randomly does come out of his ball but when i pick him up he goes back to how he was before.
i just dont know whats wrong with him :scared:

Is he eating and drinking? How's his poops? Does he usually like mealies? What was the temperature in the room? Does he walk okay?

Hedgehogs hide illness well and sometimes the little signs can mean life or death. If you are uncertain, take him to a vet.

yes he was eating and drinking fine, he wasn't wobbling or anything when walking, idk of the exact temp in my room but it was the same as it always. his poops looked normal.

:update:
so soon after i posted this, he seemed much back to normal. he sat by the fireplace and hung out around there and went back to huffing when i touched him (i've never been so grateful for it!:p). I think he may have been cold, he hasn't had his snuggle safe disk in his cage for a little while cuz he had a new fleece bed thing with fleece inside and he was fine but i guess not anymore so i will keep his snuggle disk in with him. i cuddled with him in my sweatshirt to keep him warm and he seemed calmer then usual but he seemed...happy:) he was making like little klucking sounds, but not the scared, angry ones. i think those mean hes just like relaxing, right?
