Are more hedgehogs male or female that people have as pets?
Why did you choose that gender or was it just given to you?

I have a female...

Also, what's your hedgehog named? Mine is Juniper. (Juni)

Mine is named Sid Vicious, the punk rock hedgie.
We "thought" Sid was a boy. But turns out that Sid is a girl. Oh well. :teehee:

I selected "I have both" because I've owned both boys & girls lol. I currently have 2 boys, but I had a female that passed away last fall.

I have three boys, and two girls.

The boys are named Gnarly, Sullivan, and Zeek. And the girls are Q (for Quincy) and Bodacious).

I have one of each, neither were chosen for their gender

I chose Demon over his albino sib (no idea what gender) simply because the breeder put him in my hands first and he was too cute to put back down haha!

Angel had 4 other sibs (all dark eyed whites like her!) I planned to just go and have a look at them but it just so happened that 3 other people got there before me and she was the last one left. Of course i simply couldn't resist.

I've only had two males. Rikki Tikki Tavi and Mr. Prickles. Prickles is no longer with us, but Tikki is about to reach his third birthday.

I saw Rikki in a pet store when people were bringing in the new "stock"... Little white box, opened it, and saw a little hedgie face looking up from the wood shavings. I was wanting one after I researched on Laura Leget's website. I was just visiting there to get some tank supplies though, but could leave without bringing him home. :) He just happened to be a male.

Right now I have three females (Miss Fiona, Miss Wren, Miss RoseBud) and have four more coming in soon. Since I primarily care for rescues, I rarely actually get to name a hedgie and they keep the names that they come with.

In the past I've also cared for male hedgies. And I've never chosen the gender of a hedgehog that came into my care.

Here's a list of the hedgehogs that I've cared for (some were fosters):
- Miss Penelope Anne
- Miss Margie
- Master Artie
- Miss Christie Hermyone Poppet
- Miss Pepper
- Miss Emma Rose
- Miss Molly D.
- Little Mister Mogget
- Master Ollie
- Miss Penny
- Miss Prissy
- Miss Angelina
- Master Herbie
- Miss Chaucer
- Master Django
- Miss Jett
- Master Noah James
- Missy Keelin
- Three lovely ladies
- Master Hedge-A-Saurus
- Miss Kaylee
- Miss Pearl
