How often does your hedgehog self-anoint?
Juni hasn't anointed in the 3 weeks I've had her. Does it vary with different hedgehogs?
Hmm...I just realized that one of my pictures of Juniper ended up in that post- it's not relavant to that post, but there it is! :)

Yes, it definitly varies with each hedgie! :) Puff only does it occasionally, and typically only over a few things: the grout around the kitchen sink at my parent's house (they have this huge counter, and if you set her down anywhere on it, she will bee-line for the edge of the sink and go crazy- it's really weird!), certain pillows/towels/people-blankets (she was quite obsessed with one of my friend's pillows and basically drooled all over it and left a big wet spot! :teehee: ), and sometimes things like shoes of new people. And then every once in a while, over some random object, especially if it's something new to her.

I have one that has NEVER annointed and I have one that annoints everyday. The other two are just in between. SO yes it varies.

I have some that will annoint with the same food every night, and others who will only do it when they are running around on the carpet or on the grass outside. Some are just more curious, so it varies a lot. She may have annointed with something unnoticeable and you didn't catch her in the act :)

Dante annoints everytime he touches something. Today he got to come out for some extra lovin and to clean his cage. Well not even 5 seconds had passed befor he was annoiting with anything that he could touch. He even started to tug on my jeans and annointed with it. His a silly boy. Jasmine on the other had. when she was around she never did or at least when i was around.

mine rarely do it, but if they are our running around they will anoint to places the other animals might have been.. OR to a new food or treat.
