just for curiosity...
can we take a hedgie for swimming in the ocean? will the salt water make a bad effect to the quill or even their skin?

It's not recommended. You don't want to risk them getting a respiratory infection from getting water up their nose, and I don't believe the water would be very good for their skin.

The water would not be warm enough and would give him a chill.

I would be afraid of loosing him in the waves, but I would consider that a phobia. BUT IT COULD HAPPEN!

I don't think it's cute. It scares me. It's daytime. Sand is hot, there are fleas and insects in the sand that can bite. There is a danger of the water overwhelming the animal, not to mention the dampness of the sand. If the sand is wet and cold, you run the risk of a chill. Sand clumps and gravel getting caught in hedgehog folds.

What was so important that you had to take your hedgehog to the beach and risk it's well-being for a photo op?
