Hi i'm new here and i am going to get a chinchilla or a hedgehog, i just can't decide. They both have different things that i like about them. I want a small pet that is fun but cuddly. Please help i need opinions, please say what and why.

Thanks ! :)

Some chinchillas don't like to be cuddled... which is upsetting - just something to think about. Someone with hedgies will have to share some advice about them. Good luck with the information hunt. This is a fantastic website for it.

Welcome to CnQ!

Check out the Chinchilla and Hedgehog FAQ's. They are smaller links under each section. They contain a summary of what you will need and certain illnesses and what not you will encounter.
I have both. I love my chinnie boys - they aren't really cuddlers, but they are fluffy and hilarious. I see them a lot more often than my hedgie as she is usually in her igloo.
My hedgehog is from a rescue and shes a big girlie. She's a bit huffy, and I don't really see her unless she is out for playtime or cuddle time with me. I usually hear her on her wheel at night though.
They require different temperature - hedgies warm (probably need a heater in winter) and chins cool (need an a/c) so keep that in mind. It's honestly up to you and the situation you are in. Good luck in your decisions. My best advice is just to do as much research as you can!

:welcome6: aboard. I don't have any hedgies, but like previously mentioned, not all chinchillas like to be cuddled. They're not "lap pets" - they're pretty much always hyper and want to explore. They are great to watch! :)

I am going to get a hedgehog, because i think they suit my situation a lot better and it was what i originally wanted before i started to look at chinchillas. Chins are great though and i will own one someday :) Thankyou for all the answers and i will post when i get my hedgie!!

chins are not "cuddle" pets. More often than not you are lucky that they will even tolerate being picked up, let alone cuddled. But they are a joy and quite addictive and will play with you on their terms, not by yours.

Good luck with your search!

Congrats! Try to find a heggie breeder near you, instead of a pet store- you won't regret that!
