We are going to view a hedgie tonight! No commitments, but you know how that goes
I know nothing about it at this point except that it is likely still juvenile and the color is cinnamon.
I am kind of hoping for a female, so that i can attempt some introductions with Angel after quarantine is through
No plans to ever house them together, but would be nice to see if they could interact!
*fingers crossed for a healthy hedgie*

Does she have a name?

She was purchased from a supplier by someone who wanted to breed, but after a few months the "budding breeder" decided that he didn't have time to cope with it and and wanted to sell off his hedgies fast and cheap.
I paid the small sum of 28 USD for her, She was never given a name.
She appears to be on the thin side, but active and alert. I do not know if she is actually thin or just much longer and narrower than Angel and Demon. She also has a very long slim Algerian snout tipped by a delicate pink nose.
She is actually a lot lighter colored than i expected and i think she may be a dark eyed cinnacot and not a cinnamon. Orange banding, Pink ears, pink nose, very faint pinkish masking and cheek patches.
She is so light that if she had red eyes i would have guessed apricot! but she has dark eyes, so that cant be.
She was very calm about being handled and kept peeking out at us curiously from the carrier all the way home. She appears to have smooth healthy skin and quills, perfect soft ears with no thickening at the edges that would indicate possible mites. I also have not noticed any scratching (yet)
BUT i am concerned about one thing....
she had a scab on her side just below the quill line. I initially thought it was a piece of poo stuck there, but when i cleaned it off with a damp tissue it came right off to reveal a small wound, it looks like it could be a healing bite? It did not appear to be inflamed and there is no pus so i pray there is no infection. She was quite calm and sat still and allowed me to clean it with Chlorhexidine diluted 1:10. I will get a photo of it tomorrow after she has had some rest. It is quite small, but i have never dealt with any hedgie wounds before and i am quite concerned.
She went round and round the cage sniffing and smelling then burrowed in the t shirt i gave her and splatted out to sleep. It was a long ride home and she did puke, poor girl... maybe that's why she was so good when i was cleaning the wound.
I am observing very strict quarantine! with Angel so recently recovered from her bout of prolonged sulking, i would not want anything to happen.
I have named her Barley :)
