I'm curious as to how all of you feel about buying animals and/or supplies from homes where people smoke? Do you not care if their animals are gorgeous or their supplies are good prices? If you found out there were smokers, would you avoid buying animals or supplies from a seller?

For supplies, if I received some and they smelled like smoke, I probably wouldn't buy from the person again (particularly if was something that you couldn't just toss in the laundry and have it come out smelling clean). And I'd worry a bit about the animals under their care for that brief moment while I was sitting there smelling the smoky product.
Buying an animal from them... hmm... I'd have to put more thought into it. Interesting question.

I guess it would depend on the situation, as there are people who smoke, but they don't do it in their home, or around where their animals are kept.

Supplies I would buy. Animals would have to be young and awfully special. I work in health care I see daily what smoking can do to your body.

I don't know about this. My mother smoked for a short time, but it was always in a bathroom or outside. I trusted her not to light up anywhere close to my pets. However, I doubt I would have that trust in a stranger. Then again, you don't really see many animal sale threads mentioning if animals come from smoke free homes or not.

I smoke, but I do not smoke around the chins. So you can not go by if they are smokers or not. I guess it may be a little different for me, cause I have a 3 bedroom house and no kids and the chins have 2 adjoining rooms to themselves.

For me personally, where people smoke is irrelevant. A smoker smells like smoke regardless of where they smoke. That odor permeates clothing, hair, skin, etc.

That is true but the chins will not have any ill effects of me smelling like smoke. I make a point to not smoke around them and to wash my hands before I go back there.

Not to pick specifically on you, but unless you take a shower and change your clothes before you handle your chins, they will smell like smoke as well. You might not notice it, but as a non-smoker I'm VERY sensitive to smoke smell.
I have gotten chin toys before that reeked of cigarette smoke. This wasn't just a slight odor. Before I even opened the box I was blown away by the smell.

I seriously doubt that you would be able to smell smoke that rubbed off me to them. You can smell smoke on things that have been smoked around like a package of toys, clothes, etc. Can you honestly say you could be walking your dog and it jump on a smoker and you smell it on him?
I wasn't talking about washing my hands for them not to smell like it I was talking about the nicotine on my hands being harmfull.
