Hi all! Tonite I had Maserati (my hedgie) out playing and I noticed that she has what looks like scabs or maybe a rash on the bottom of her two front feet. I am paranoid about checking little feet since reading all the horror stories about threads/hairs, but I don't recall seeing this before today (could've missed it, though), and she looks completely fine other than just the bottom of her front paws. She didn't wheel last night, though.

I should also tell you that we went out of town this weekend to visit friends who were in the process of moving. There were 3 cats and a dog there as well, but she didn't have direct contact with them at any point, though she did find her way to the (just cleaned) litter box to poo. She stayed in an oversized laundry basket and "escaped" twice - not sure how she did it, climbing or squeezing through the tiny holes, so I'm not sure if maybe she could have hurt her feet during the escape or maybe stepping on something.

I will try to get her in to the vet tomorrow to be sure, but I was hoping for some advice about meds, what it would likely be, etc. I am thinking maybe it is just a minor injury, but from what I read I'm afraid it could be allergies (changed her food about a month ago, but surely that wouldn't do anything to her feet) or staph - ugh! Advice????

If it's just the bottoms of her feet it sounds like she's run her feet raw. That may be why she stopped wheeling.

I'd keep a watch on her. Staph or allergies is going to show up somewhere other than the bottoms of her feet. Staph often starts as tiny sores on the face, under the chin, or on their legs. :)

Oh, thank goodness! So no need to call the vet, yet? I gave her a little oatmeal foot bath last night, and she did wheel; doesn't look like as far as usual, judging from the mess, but she did run! :)

Is there anything I need to do to make her more comfy or prevent infection - Neosporin or anything?
