my hedgie bella gave birth to three little hoglets a week ago. i know its wayy too soon for them to be eating food but when they do start should they be started on soft or hard food?

Hoglets will wean onto hard food around 5 weeks and mom will help them learn. You can crunch it up a bit to make it easier for them to chew.

Yep, usually the mom will take care of all the weaning from milk to hard food. When the babies are interested in hard food, they will start to venture out of the nest and follow mom to the food bowl.

well my babies are now 4 weeks old and have started wobbling out of the nest a bit. they snif around at the food but thats about it.

I know when my girlfriend's Hog had her liter, they just went to the food. We did crush it up a bit just to make it easier, as stated already. But I guess they just go right for it.
