Ok guys, so I went to amazon.com today and was compelled to buy these two box sets. I've never read them before, but I felt in the mood for magic and wonder. Have you ever read them? Are they good? What are they about? He he he he I must sound ridiculous. Oh well. :D

I couldn't get into Chronicles of Narnia. I'm reading Fellowship of the Ring (1st LOTR book), it's really good - can't wait to see the movie. I watched a movie of The Hobbit when I was younger, but I don't remember much of it at all.

Both are amazing :)
Narnia is more for younger people, but I've re-read it recently and it still holds value and entertains me. If you like fantasy, Narnia are really well written stories that are just perfect for sitting down and having a good long read. They're cozy books (if that makes any sense)
LOTR is also amazing, but in a different way. The hobbit is fairly light reading, but the 3 other books are a tad heavy. His stories are absolutely amazing, and I got really drawn into them, unable to put them down :)
I think part of it for me is that older english authors had such a different style of writing. Its very precise and imaginative, and yet they didn't try to force their vision on you so much as they wanted to let you paint the picture of how things should look. Somehow, in spite of (or maybe because of) this, almost everyone I know has the exact same mental visions of characters and scenery in all of these books.
Anyway, that was long and somewhat boring, but my point is, if you like fantasy at all, read them! :)

Thanks for the input Shada, that's a real help. Now I know what I'm in for. I'll be taking them to Michigan with me to have something good to read over the busy hustle and bustle of a family packed christmas. I love having a good book to read!!:D

I'm currently reading LOTR, and its getting me into trouble :) I should be studying for finals, but I can't seem to put it down! I couldnt be more excited for the movie to come out on the 19th. The book is fantasy, and I really dig Tolkien, so you have my vote :D

The Chronicles of Narnia is by far one of my favorite series of books! The first one is my least favorite but I loved all the rest of them. I highly recommend them. Hope you enjoy them!:)

Wow, that brings back memories. I had to read the Chronicles of Narnia back in Sixth grade. I now have been out of high school for over ten years. I think I have to pick up those books again, I can only remember they were about a lion I think?
How about a Wrinkle in Time and A Wind in the Door?

Those books were awesome(Narnia). I read them when I was eight, they were my first novels I ever read. I started by reading about the Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe first, then read the book that comes before that, which tells about the beginning of Narnia. then I read the rest of the series. I was told that was the best way to read them. I also saw the cartoon movies about them when I was a child. I really adored them! Great for the imagination! Lol, I can still remember the cartoon and I have not seen it in ages. Makes me want to go digging in my childhood stuff to find them now. You'll love the whole set though, real great to read.

The Chronicles of Narnia are wonderful!! They may be considered children's books by some, and in fact I have read them to my children, but they are rich with meaning for adults as well. I think I may just read them again! Every time I do, I come away with something more. The symbolism is profound and beautiful.
The Trilogy of the Rings is excellant also. I'm reading it right now, before I see the movie. Very creative and masterful writing.
