Personally, I don't understand the need for the competition? They were both wonderful movies, just in different ways.

I think they were both good. For kids I would say Harry Potter I think Lord of the Ring was too much for the younger kids

i agree.. cant compare apples and oranges, except that they're both fruit.. ;) they were both good, in different respects.. i'd not take children to see either of them, however, i think some parts of even harry potter are too scary

LOTR ... I dunno.. I'm not a huge fantasy fan... but These entertained me way more than Harry Potter ever could.

I personally hate Harry potter. I just wanted to see others views. And Lord of the rings used much more time,effort,and money that potter would come cloes to.

i personally didn't understand lord of the rings LOL and i've watched it about 5times and still dont get it.I just bought the book though to read so maybe after i read the book i'll get it alittle better.I'm a HUGE harry potter fan(just got done watching the movie) and i'm fixing to go read the last few chapters of the 3rd book and absolutly can't wait for the new one to come out :) i think the movies were great(i'm hoping they do a 3rd movie) :D But maybe if I understood lotr alittle better i'd like it LOL

I have to go with LOTR on this one. The things that Tolkien created when he wrote these stories have influenced so much in every aspect of tv, books, games, art... I mean, how many people write about 2000 pages of stories as an excuse to use a language he created (elvish).
