I have worked with both doctors and have been very pleased. We had one chinchilla who was on the verge of death and they took the care and time to pinpoint the problem and that chinnie fully recovered. I have also worked with them on chinnie pregnancies, and just general testing. I have found their fees to be reasonable.

This is for those of us out in the Palestine/Longview/Tyler area where exotics vets are few and far between. The vet who sees chins sounds very chin smart (I have called although never been there) and also works at the Emergency clinic on weekends.

Dr. Hobbs sees evening emergencies at her home office in Winnsboro, TX on weeknights. The home emergency clinic allows for continuous monitoring of hospital cases when needed. Pets are transported back to the Hawkins or Holly Lake Clinic the following morning.

On weekends, Dr. Hobbs sees emergencies at the Animal Emergency Clinic in Tyler, TX, where she works the weekend shifts. Of course, there will be times when Dr. Hobbs is unable to see emergencies. At those times, emergencies will be referred to the Animal Emergency Clinic in Tyler (903) 534-0459.

Hawkins Animal Clinic -DR. JILL HOBBS does not do chinchillas. She does do rabbits, but will refere you to Dr. Reese. I have been using doctor Reese for the past three years and just found AN AWESOME VET. Dr. Reese has only treated about 6 chinchillas
