Oh my Cozmo was no where close to being my first pet. I have had so many dogs and cats and hamsters, and guinea pigs, and fish, and parakeets, and even a salamandar, before Cozmo..... I can rememeber their names but it would take a long time to count them all to give you numbers.

I'm such an animal/nature nut that there was no way I'd have waited this long to get a pet. I think my first was actually a robin I rescued after it was hit by a car.

first interesting pet. ;)

When I was young, I was terribly allergic to furry animals, as was my father. So I never had a cat or dog. I always loved cats though, and I'd play with friend's cats even though I'd be a hacking, wheezing, coughing mess later on! So my parents let me have low-maintenance no fur pets. I had a bunch of fish, and I still plan one day once I'm settled in one place for good to get a large salt water aquarium complete with coral, anemone, and brightly colored tropical fish. I also had hermit crabs, which were a nice addition to my collection of sea shells that I picked up whenever we went to the beach on vacation. Luckily I've since grown out of my bad reaction to cats/dogs and considered finally getting one...but it turns out my roommate is allergic! so the hedgie will be my first real pet once I get him. heheh :D

I had *so* many animals before getting my hedgie! I am a native of Michigan, and we lived on 40 acres, so I had dogs, cats, horses, hamsters, and even raised and adapted back into the wild 7 baby raccoons (2 diff. litters). And now that I moved to California, I only have room for a few hedgies! I really value the experience that having all those critters gave me, it really gives me a great perspective on how to relate with my Derby. :)

As you can see by the votes, I am the only one that made a hedgie their first pet. Her name is Urchin, and she is 9 weeks old. I really love being a new hedgie owner and only wish I became one sooner. It's fun learning all the little quirks in her personality.
Also, as you can see, I'm new to this forum.

You're not the only one anymore, my hedgie, Igel, is my first pet too. I've had him for about six weeks now. He's still not very friendly, but he's so cute I love him anyways.

I've had just about every kind of pet possible, except racoons and monkeys. I grew up in a pet loving family, and up until about a year ago I wanted to be an exotic animal vet. I got Duncan, my only hedgie, about a month ago and he is one of the best pets I have ever had :D

As a little kid my Mom aways had some kind of fish, hamster, parakeets, and finely cats. We had one dog much later in my life that lived 13 years. Then came the two hedgiehogs that I have right now. LoisThe pitter patter of little hedgie feet is sweet music to my ears. :hedge1:

I am with Jen. Punky and Rosie defiantely were not the first animals to make their way into my life. I have had dogs, cats, millions of fish and a salamander I rescued from my basement
