My hedgehog never annoints! Well at least I never see him do it. Is that common?

I have heard that it is common especially around new smells and tastes. Nikee did it with new foods. Noah did it once so far on the day I picked him up after he chewed on the arm pit of my turtle neck
;) .

knuckles, annointing means that they spit this foamy stuff on their back and it will be the color of whatever it is they have just eaten. It is very sticky. They look weird while they are contorting around to be able to reach their shoulder and back area.

Well I find it weird that everyone talks about it and I have never seen it happen. I have had Hubbs for over 5 months now. Maybe I just smell too good for him? ;)

Some hedgies will annoint over everything and I mean everything, good, bad, and questionable. Others are very selective in what they lick. I don't think our Kei has ever annointed yet. Her sister did for the first time last night on the bars of the little critter corral.

Sebastian is a chronic, Quincy has a selective palate, and little Iggy doesn't even know what anointing is. I have all three *shrug*

Speaking of anoiting. Lilly anoited for her first time today (that I have ever seen)!!!. She was walking around on me and started licking at my seater and then she anoited! It was great! I am glad I finalyy saw her anoit! :)
