Here is an interesting trait that my James seems to have...

he just loves to get BACKRUBS! Once my findgers are able to find a sweet spot between the quills James is one happy hedgie :p . This is the
only (positive) affection that I get fom him. Is this normal? I think that he likes the massage to ease his muscles from all the running that he does in the night - he is a machine!

My Zoe loves her back rubbed as well. Different hedgies enjoy different things. :)

Interesting.

It is funny sight, sometimes he hangs his jaw in bliss and other times he falls asleep.
As long as he is a happy hedgie I don't mind.

They all seem to be a bit different in why they like. I had one who enjoyed having her legs rubbed. She would fall asleep while you rubbed her legs between your fingers.

I am so jealous, my tico hates to be touched. I have had him now for about three months and I tried rubbing his back and everything but he just hisses and pops like mad. How did you figure out that they liked these things? I want my Tico to like being touched but its not looking to good!

Well I know Zoe likes it b/c she really relaxes and arches her back when she likes me scrathing in a certain part. :) You'll just have to continue to be patient with Tico. Hopefully he'll come around. It took Zoe a while to.

Our Emma is not big on being touched either. Petting her makes her ball up and huff continueally. The other night she was on the bed, me beside her and I just put my hand in one of the hedge bags and rubbed her between the shoulders quite firmly. Within minutes she was spread out, quills down, eyes closed with a look of sheer bliss on her face. I must have hit the right spot. Keep trying and try rubbing a bit more firmly. I never rubbed her hard before because she was so grumpy. Hmmm guess that's what she likes.

I just keep trying different things at different times. I have a little rescue right now who hasn't been handled much. She has a lot of issues we are working through. Some days she will tolerate being touched, others she huffs and puffs constantly. Last night I got her to quiet down with a back rub (something she doesn't always let you do).

One of my hedgies likes her belly rubbed, and will roll onto her side (sometimes when she is really comfy onto her back) for a good tummy rub, and she will fall sleep. My others all seem to love their foreheads rubbed and they all fall alseep from that.
