Do you find it hard saying goodbye to a chin when giving it to their new family?? :( I couldn't imagine having to do it. I hope this is in the right area. ;)

Hi,
Just the thought of it was hard for me. That is why I decided to keep the twins that my female had and that is also why we don't allow the chinnies to breed. I would want to keep them all!

I know it must be hard to do. I don't know how anyone does it. Maybe I'm a pessimist, but there are so many horrible and irresponsible people out there, I couldn't trust anyone.

Yep, it's hard. But I, and people I know, screen potential owners very carefully. I talk with them several times on the phone, exchange emails, and always try to get a feel for who they are. I know there are some horrible people out there who don't take care of their animals, and you can't be certain your chin will always be 100% safe forever, but you do the best you can.
Think about this too - If someone hadn't taken a chance on selling one of their babies - you might not have one either.

tunes, yes, that's true.
I still could not do it. I would worry how the chinchilla is doing. I mean there are people out there who can pretend to be nice and all that but really they aren't. :|

It is hard but I try and go with my gut. This spring I am actually keeping the first ones I have ever kept. A lot of my babies have gone to friends so I get to keep an eye on them

When we had our first kits, I had to twist my fiance's arm to sell them. she knew we planned on adopting them out, but once you got the lil fuzz-butt...what can you do besides fall in love?
Well, my mom...who hates anything that looks alike a rat and thought they were disgusting...happened to come by an hour after they were born. She ended up buying one ;)
The other, went to my fiance's cousin, who's parrents are seperated...so come this weekend, we're going to pick him up so he can spend the summers with us! I'm very excited about this, I had a bit of an absence from home and I havent seen him since his head was bigger than his body hehe.
The last chin went to a younger couple who emailed us looking for kits from our website.
I was, though...heartbroken a bit...as I am everytime I have to sell one of my babies. I love them all...but it's better in the end. And I am generally confident of my buyers.

I wouldn't be too upset if I gave one to family or friends.
