For chin abuse? I think the person should go to jail and suffer.

I also think this goes for any kind of animal abuse, not just chins.

Oh... You dont want to know what I think!! I agree, animal abuse should get the highest punishment!! Like children, how can you harm something so sweet and innocent??? I dont think people should get fines either, I want to see them sit in jail!

:| This is a subject I feel VERY strongly about!! abuse on any animal or child should suffer the SEVEREST punishment!! Definately jail terms and the right to have an animal should be revoked!! I hate hearing stories of people being charged and then getting another animal. :| Also it bugs me when :banghead: people get a dog.. .get rid of it for whatever reason then get another one .... I think having an animal is for life!! my pets are my babies and in some circumstances it's okay to get rid of them if it goes to a good home!! but I believe that the severest punishment should go to people who abuse children and animals!!! I hope I have not offended anyone in any way shape or form!!! :D

People who buy animals should totally commit themselves to that pet and treat it with love and respect forever!

I think the worst problem with animal/child abuse is that it goes on behind closed doors and we are so concerned with our own lives that we don't notice our neighbors are the offenders. I don't necessarily like the idea of people butting into my life, but if it saves the life of an animal, it's worth it. They don't have a voice to speak up about it. Just today in the news locally, they have been running a story about a drunken idiot on the road last night with his two dogs chained to the back of the truck. The dogs could not keep up with his driving (drunk driving) and they both suffered multiple lacerations and are still getting treated for other possible injuries. I can't believe anyone would treat their children so horribly, but it obviously happens, and i'm sure it happens a thousand times behind closed doors, before we see it in the open. Something in soceity needs to change so that we can take better care of the animals we choose to bring into our lives. Having an animal and taking care of it is a choice, not an obligation. I'm sure this one will be debated until the end of time though........ :banghead:

I think having an animal is for life!! my pets are my babies and in some circumstances it's okay to get rid of them if it goes to a good home!!:DYes, pets are a lifelong committment. I volunteer with a cat placement group and have heard some really bad stories. We have taken in a number of abused cats. One that had an ear cut off with scissors!
When we assist people who can no longer keep their pet and are trying very hard to place it correctly (home check, contract, rescue groups, etc.), we generally refer to it as re-homing. 'Get rid of' is so harsh and reminds me of putting out the trash. :( So now when I hear myself say this (and it surprised me how often I did!) I've been correcting myself if I am referring to someone committed to re-homing their pet. Instead I reserve the phrase 'get rid of' for people who treat their pets like garbage and dump them at the pound or by the side of the road. Makes my blood boil. Just my humble opinion.

:( That's HORRIBLE!!!! Poor dogs. :( That happened here too. I think the guy went to jail but for only a short time, because he was mentally unstable or something like that. He isn't allowed to own any pets though.

I watched a program on tv a long time ago about cats and dogs being put to sleep, and they actually showed it!! They stick the needle in and the animal goes limp and then they put them in a big garbage bin to be burned! I cried for hours and to this day that program is one I will never forget. :( :(
