I'm 19 now, I get away with a lot more things ofcourse, but my parents still tell me what I can and can't do every now and then. It sucks, but I do live with them and I guess I have to respect the house rules.

When I was around 16, I was homeschooled, jobless, and spent a lot of time on the computer. So they thought I should be off the computer at a certain time and only be allowed on for so many hours a day. Ugh. I live in a town that only has a bowling alley, and I abosultey hate the people here, which is why I was homeschooled so there was nothing for me to do really.

I couldn't leave the house past 9 to go across the street to hang out with my friend. Made me feel like I was 12 or something.

I couldn't wear makeup either for the longest time, and they put this thing on me where I wasn't allowed to date til I was 18 but that blew quick.

I know this is an old thread but....I just found it and thought I would post.

You are not alone at all. My parents are also overprotective.

I cannot go running alone near our house (even during the day when it is light out)
I'm not allowed to go to the mall with out an adult
I wasn't allowed to stay home alone (for just a few hours) until I was 12
I'm not allowed to date until who knows when
I'm not allowed to wear make-up either
If I'm invited over to a friends house who my parents don't know well they have to come over to my house instead
cell phones are a no
But then again I guess they have their reasons *shrugs*

My parents are pretty overprotective too. When there's school, they don't let me buy games, CDs, and other stuff that THEY think will "affect my studies"... (well, they can't stop me when I sneakily buy them... >=D), even if I use my OWN money. I'm also not allowed to leave the house by myself, let alone go anywhere I want. I have to ask them for permission before going to someone's house or going to some place with someone (which they usually don't let me do anyways). I never even got to stay home by myself while they were at work during the summer til I was in like gr 10. Oh yeah, my dad makes me drink like 2 cups of milk per day so I'll "grow." Like yeah... who the **** still grows when they're 17? Geez... He's so irrational sometimes. And I remember back when we had dialup, my dad would take the phone cord away on weekdays because I "went on the internet too much" and I couldn't freely use the internet til the weekends. Sometimes, he would even do that on holidays when he was pissed at me. What a drag that was. I'm glad we have DSL now. My dad also asks really annoying questions sometimes that makes me feel like I'm a 5 or something... like asking me if I've drank any water that day... Like DUH, I'll drink it when I'm thirsty.
