2 month ago i took my hedgie to the pet store with me. Then when i got into the our land rover i put her in her travel box. We stopped at burger king for a sec (i was thirsty). So while i was at bk my mom went to sam's (a big wherehouse store). When she came back to pick me up from bk my hog was gone. My mom said she forgot it was in the car. We stoped at the parking lot and searched all over thae car. I thought she was inside the engine so i looked and thank god she wasn't there. After about an hour of searching we decided to go home and pray that she was fine and still in the car. Anyway, I put food in the car and left it their. It wasn't until about 11:30 at night when me and my sister decide to go get ice cream and saw Cinamon (my hedgie) crawling out of the air conditioning box thing. Thank God we found her and that she's safe now.

Anyone got any stories like this?

Yesterday she went under the bookcase. We managed to get her out.

I have yet to loose Pippin, though he almost got lost in the couch... I watch him like a hawk so he doesn't stand much chance.

Sonic: Erm, why were you taking your hedgie to the pet store? Just curious. lol

Better yet: What were you using to transport him in? It sounds like you may want to find something new that he can't escape from or get thrown out of if you should get in a car accident.

Yeah, When I have taken the whole bunch to the vet, I keep Honey the female separate, and she likes to get out and sleep under the seats where the springs are.

Do you guys have a plastic travel carrier from PetMate or something? It might be a good idea to get a hedgie-sized carrier just to prevent future losings:)

It's sad how many carriers I own: bags, plastic carriers, small Sterilite bins, shoe boxes, fanny packs, and hedgie bags. Pippin has a container for every occasion, not like he GOES anywhere.

Also, leaving your hedgehog in the car unattended (I assume the car was turned off?) in florida heat is a death sentance. cars heat up quickly and youre VERY lucky she didnt overheat and die while alone and lost

I am trying to figure out how you could be thinking about icecream at 11:30 at night, when your hedgie was still missing.:banghead:
Yes...Thank-god you found her safe and sound.
