I've had hedgies for 1 1/2 years and I do not plan on breeding for ATLEAST another 1 1/2 years. :)

I didn't even give breeding a thought until we'ed had numerous hedgies for almost a year. I just don't think anyone can be prepared and knowledgeable enough in any less time. Sometimes I feel I'm still not. :)

I am thinking about breeding but I plan to concentrate right now on doing rescues. I probably will not begin breeding for several years. I have a lot on my plate and I would like to take my time and pick out the very best possible breeding stock. I also would like to show my breeding stock and then only breed the ones that show well. No point in adding to the many hedgehogs out there already unless I am contributing something really nice. :)

I have had hedgehogs for almost 4 years now and have never once even thought of breeding. One reason (Most important 1) being that 3 of my 4 hedgies were from a petstore, (1 from breeder) and the 2nd reason for me not breeding is because I would be really scared of all the complications that could occur during this time. There are some excellent breeders out there and I will leave it all to them.

Astrid was pregnant when I brought her home (although I didn't know it. I had her for 3 weeks before she suddenly had babies.

I got my first hedgie a little under a year ago. I looked every where in my area for a male almost right away. Once i found one it took me 2 weeks to get the spike ball to unroll when i picked it up and i found out it was a GIRL. but i found a male in about a week after that and had my first litter on Sept. 7th , 2004 and my next is due tomorrow
