Clearly on this site there are people who have animals because its the fad or an impulsive decision. Then they tend to just dispose them when they are bored of them. This is just a pole to see what people would think about black flagging abusers from this site to shut down there means of buying/selling. Even though they could find other ways, at least this is one less way, and if it saves at least one animal from abuse, its well worth it to me.
Thank You
Chad
i disagree with this idea completely.
i understand and agree with your stance against people who buy, sell, and trade pets for fun or because they tire of them.
BUT c&q is a good resouce to rehome an unwanted animal--recently a LOT of chins were rescued through the site, for example.
it is the buyer's responsibility to learn a little about the seller--you can ask for references or just read the seller's posts.
and it is the seller's responsibility to check on any concerns about the buyer and turn him down if need be.
cheers,

You have a good point on sellers bear. The rescue section is very important in animal neglect. I think I was more geared at the buyers due to my experience on the Classified section when I posted my three babies. Some one wanted one for $21. And what Ive noticed is that person had tried to get hedgies from about every other seller there. Screening is really important and Im just afraid that animals will be sold to the wrong person. Nancy had made a great point on another thread about keeping lines of communications open between sellers to make each other aware of the neglectors. Im really heated when I read some of these posts.

Tuck,
I do not agree with you in terms of booting people off the site as people can always learn and if CNQ starts kicking people off then it is not an open environment for breeders and owners alike to learn about their chins or quills or both!!
As for communication a great point was made!! All breeders and buyers should keep up some form of communication. I still speak to the breeder on a daily basis of one of my baby chinnies it builds a trust and you know your breeder is looking out for the well being of the animals not just selling them.
In terms of selling your own babies asking TONNES of questions and get a feeling for the person you are selling to will offer!! if you have a bad feeling about the person you are selling too chances are it's not a good idea!! if you are selling to a person that waits for the baby, pays for the baby, does not make irrational demands for "cheap or free" chances are they will love the BB as much as you do. I have read on here that a lot of people will actually ask for the IP's (intended parents) of their bb's to make sure they have a reputable and knowledgeable vet set up incase of am emergency -- chances are at somepoint you will need a vet for your baby!!! As mentioned previously there is TOO many people who impulse buy pets and tire of them and thent hey end up on our rescue boards hoping to find a good and loving home. If the breeder also makes an effort to do extreme screening as Tuck has it will help the hoglets or kits to find a loving home and people who REALLY want to love cuddle and take care of these precious babies!!!
I think getting heated over some of the responses is normal!! I am new to chinchilla's and have no experience with Hedgehogs as of yet but I do notice a lot of replies that really make you wonder :banghead: as you said your offer for $21.00 for a well bred and hand raised baby that you've put a lot of time money and effort into, is ridiculous and almost an insult. A lot of people on this board in both the Chins and the Quill sections seem to get a kick out of getting attention by mentioning their horrendous breeding practices. I believe that these kinds of posts are best to ignore to keep a happy and educational board here!! I do see why your heated and frustrated but I don't think that kicking people off is the best way to go about it we can only hope they realize their childish behavior and instead of continueing this behavior they learn from the other intelligent educated people on here.

 I forgot to add that when selling on this board it's a good idea to go back and read over the potential buyers previous posts to get an idea of what type of pet owner they are

bears gotta point. If you're going to make it so that the people who are just "fad" people have no means of selling them here, then maybe the hedgehogs won't get sold and have be worse of with the same owner as opposed to a new, better owner.

More neglectful buyers, not sellers or rescue opportunities I corrected myself on.

a thread such as that one would be PERFECT for this site. People could list problem buyers and sellers. We could also have another sticky thread for people to post their experiences with certain breeders and stuff. I think that would do a lot for the buying and selling parts of these forums.

You know, E-bay has a "feedback" system. Maybe someone on the tech side of things could look into coming up with some sort of feedback system where everybody's score's and comments would be available?

Think about it this way. If they are not on the site how will you keep track of them and know what they are up to?Maybe someone should start a pm chain or email chian warning people. (with eveidence of course)
