Hedge hogs in california

I've never seen or heard of hedgehogs in California, so are they legal here?? I've never heard of them not being legal. Farrets are illegal here, but hedgehogs? I actually only ever seen one in Canada. :confused:

You cannot sell them or own them. I don't really understand why...someone else may know better...I just know they are illegal.

Thanx, i had no idea some of those animals were illegal. But of course, some people have them anyways, lol.

I wish they weren`t illegal. I think having a pet hedgehog would be awsome !! I also didn`t know what a degu was, and I figured out it`s coz they`re illegal here. And gerbils are too - which is why I have never seen one in real life. Wow .. this stinks. =[

They are because if they got out of their owner's homes they could survive our climate and start a new colony of wild ones out here that could tip the food chain. Good figure. :rolleyes: But I did have the chance to have a pet gerbil when I went to school in MD. They are wonderful little animals that love to burrow. :)

Now If I ever move to France with my husband who's orrigonally from there, I may convince him to let me get a hedgie. LOL
