I witnessed first hand a hedgie playing with a toilet paper roll!! It is so cute. He is playing in his playpen (which I am soooo glad I bought! I bought it a few days ago) while I am here typing on the computer right now. THe little guy is so adorable! He is really warming up to me alot. He is actually playing while I can see him and not just at night when the whole house is very very quiet. He isn't huffing, hissing and jumping when I pick him up any more. Just rolling into a ball and prickiling, but that is about it. Even when I wake him up in the middle of the day, like today. I am going to see if I can sneek downstairs and get back up intime to catch him playing without him having a heart atack that I am 'moving'

Isn't that the funniest thing? Does Pequin roll over on his side when he plays? That is the best! Stewie only plays in the light on occasion, but when he does I laugh till I hurt!

I have offered tp tubes to Chloe. The first time she stuck her head in a bit to see where it led to and then pulled it right back out. Now she just ignores them :( Oh well, she is still adorable. The one toy that she really seems to enjoy is her plastic tugboat that I bought for 25 cents at a drug store. She loves to chew on it, push it around, and tip it over :)

Pequin also loves his cat ball with a little bell in it. He pushes it around at night, I hear it when ever I am up stairs. :)

*grin* I'd had a TP tube in Alina's cage for weeks and for all that time she ignored it. Then one evening I heard some new noises coming from the room she's in. I went in, but left the light off and there she was with her head and one arm stuck in the tube. She rolled over on her side, on her back, back to her belly, rammed into the wall a couple of times.... So I called my husband in so he could see and told him to turn on the light. Instantly, Alina got out of the tube and started looking at us. My husband said she looked indignant.

Tp tube play time is the best! I can't get enough of watching my girls battle it out with the TP tube! This morning I qoke up to their cage being an absolute mess and the TP tubes scattered about...I think they did some serious TP tubing last night! Oh and here is Lilly in mid play time...Then he afterwards looking at me like "what"??

my Sonic sometimes plays with them, but one morning i discovered that he had put it in his water dish and it got all waterlogged, so i stopped putting them in.

Aww that's adorable, I wish I could catch my new Hedgie playing with his toys :)
My new Hedgie (got him three days ago) hasn't been out of his hutch at all except at night when I'm asleep. When I take him out he'll run around the house and be very active but on his own he doesn't seem to want to do much. (except @ night, when I wake up his toys are moved) My question is will this change in time? I figure he's only active at night because he's not used to his surroundings yet and he probably only played at night at the pet shop when all of the ppl went away. As he becomes more comfortable here will be wake up at different times or keep the same sleeping habits?

P.S. The reason I ask is that I've been told that hedgies are active in the day but that doesn't seem to hold true for mine.
