What age do you hedgie breeder out there..seperate the babies from the mom?
I was doing it at 7weeks, then they go home at 8weeks.
But the subject of accidental pregancy was brought up to my attention..
so I now take out at 6weeks..and go home at 7weeks if they are eating fine..
Thoughts please!!

I'd say boys at 6 weeks and girls can stay with mom longer if she is not sick of them already! :)

Aw poor boy...it's just that he could get his mom or sister's pregnant at his age and you wanna be careful about that.

Keep an eye on the boys. I had to pull 4 boys from mom at 5 weeks old (5 weeks exactly) Because all 4 were going after her (Not for milk) but 6 weeks is generally the average norm

It isn't real common for the boys under 6 weeks to actually be able to perform- but it is possible. In 9 years, I've only had 1 mama impregnated by a 5 week old son, and also had a 5-1/2 week old male who got into my retired females' cage and wreaked havoc. =( But, considering I've raised over 300 litters at this point, that's pretty low odds. I pull boys at 6 weeks unless they're acting too mature for their age (like Sarah's) or are slow to grow and clearly needing more time with mama.
