Is there any trick to introducing female hedgies? It always sounds like you can put them together without any problems, but is this always true? Do they just pretty much ignore each other? With chinchillas, you normally have to introduce them before they can live together.

Hi,

I don't know of any tricks in putting two female hedgies together.....I usually put 2 females of the same litter together when they are very young...sometime it works out and other times they will eventually fight.

So are some picky about a "roommate?" Can they be territorial of their cage?

All animals can be territorial. It really depends on the pet's attitude.

You have to introduce hedgies before putting them together. A few weeks of long evening playtimes together would be good. Use a cage that neither one of them have used. It must be large enough to accomodate 2 wheels, 2 sets of dishes, 2 beds etc and have enough room that they can have their own space if they desire.
Like chins, there are no guarantees that because they are happy together now it will continue.
