The babie were born about one week ago and I just wanted to update the pictures with a picture I took today of all five of them. :)

Lately we have had a few problems with this litter. Rosie has a calcium deficiency, which we are working on making her get better, and one of the babies has a huge ingrown quill. So far things are starting to look a little better though!

I tried to keep them in a straight line, but they kept moving...

They are absolutely adorable! You must be so proud of the babies and Mama Rosie. I wish I could touch their cute pink chubby feet and scrunched up pink faces. Their quills are bigger than them! You must be having lots of fun with them. :)

You know how jealous I am. Better keep them under lock and key cause I'm coming with a big purse. ;)

They are so very adorable. :D

Awww . . . They are too cute! I should be getting 2 chinnies in three weeks, but lately I've been thinking that when I'm ready to welcome another pet into my home, it should be a hedgie! Your photos are enough to convince that my next pet should definitely be a hedgie! :D Too cute!

WARNING dont read if you have a weak stomach

well, in the other post when i mentioned that one of the babies had a big cyst from an ingrown quill, things really didn't go well this morning. at around 3 am- 5 am i was up watching the babies becuase i woke up from shreaks from a baby crying. rosie was carring that baby boy around in her mouth and she poped the big cyst and it was just a mess. i had to keep making sure she wasn't going near the babies head for close to two hours. after that i had an asthma attack from being around the bedding so much (its carefresh and dusty, but its the only thing that doesn't bother me right off the bat, and the dust started to get to me.) so then i went to get my inhailer (sp) and went to bed afterwards. before i went to bed i placed two other babies ontop of that boy so she wouldn't pick him out from the others. well about an hour later (right before i usually wake up for school) i heard this really weird noise cming from the cage. rosie was eating something but it wasn't her kibble or anything like that i could tell. so i ran over to pick up the towel, when i did the baby was in rosie's mouth was all bloody. i quickly took him away from her and he was barely alive. his head was just about crushed and his eye poped out. by that point i was crying histerically. i guess something was wrong because she had chewed him right where the cyst was. a few seconds after i picked him up he was dead. i feel so aweful...it was also just before school. the other babies seemed to be fine and rosie as nursing them acting like nothing had happened when i left. i just wish there was something that i could have done to help the little boy. :'( but i have to remember that i still have two boys and two girls that need love and attention, along with rosie. im just really upset right now that that had to happen to that little boy.

Aww Lauren I'm so sorry. What a crappy day huh! I had a similar experience when I was leaving in the morning for work and checked on my Shadow (who'd been sick for some time but fine the night before). When I checked on him he was dying and looked horrible. I was so upset and and drained by the end of the day. You lost one little guy, but like you said you still have others to care for. Just try not to let it get to you too much. You tried your best, it's not your fault! I hope you feel better. <<HUGS>>

P.S. Have you tried vellux for your lining? That would prevent the attack you had.
