I offer for the first time whole kernel corn (in can) to Kiwi. She ate that like if it was a mealworm and starts purring !!!

I gave almost 6 piece to her. I know corn is not that good for hedgies but is it that bad if I do that just once a week ?

Giving her some every once in a while shouldn't be bad. Just not too often. I heard that Hedgies can't digest cows milk. Then I heard that some people give them cottage cheese and in the wild the used to be accused of drinking from cows udders? So Can they digest milk?

I'm not sure about milk...I have never heard about that before but I am sure that they cannot digest corn.

No they can't digest cows milk but people do give them cottage cheese. Makes no sense to me.
They can't digest corn either and it usually comes out as it goes in. It is no benefit to them so really there isn't much point in giving it to them but a piece here and there probably won't hurt.

So I think I am gonna stop giving her corn. Just to be sure.

Thanks !

If it comes out the same as it goes in then I guess humans can't digest corn either!! lol (yes an icky thought i know..hehe) Anyways I still have the same food that I got when I got my hedgie, it has corn and cheese in it. The corn must be ground up because I can't see it or anything and I suppose it's the same deal with the cheese. Since they can't digest corn and possibly not the cheese is it ok in the ground up form? I need to find an online (and afforadable) supplier for hedgie food since the pet shops near me have limited choices. I can get this food for only $2.00 online which is awesome and they're located a state away so it arrives next day but I'm not sure how healthy it is. Here's so info about it. You guys let me know if I should be feeding my hedgie this or not please! :)

Zoo-Vital Brown's HedgeHog Food

Crude Protein (min.) %15.0

Crude Fat (min.) %4.0

Crude Fiber (max.) %6.0

Moisture (max.) %12.0

I would post all of the ingedients but it's a very very long list. I will if you guys want me too. All help is appreciated!! :)

~DanielleThis is really not a good food to feed your hedgie, and most won't even eat it, which is why you probably get it so cheap.
If you need help finding a better food on-line or links to suppliers, please let me know, and I will gladly help.:)
