When to clean them out

Just wondering when it would be safe to clean out my hedgies cage. The babies are 18 days old but mom is still really protective. She doesn't like to be bothered too much except if you are feeding her then she will come out. The cage is starting to get really stinky from the poo so I would like to clean it out before it gets too bad but not sure how to go about it.

I will usually clean the area away from the nest very carefully after 2 weeks. I don't clean the nest until the babies are at least 3 weeks but also depends on mom's temperament. If she is very huffy and protective, I wait longer.
