There is nothing in this world I have ever wanted more then to have a hedgehog. Unfortunatley it would seem that I have a severe reaction to what I am assuming is the proteins in their saliva. I break out in serious hives and swelling. I've been to an allergist, who wouldn't even give me the time of day, saying it was unimportant! Everyone thinks I am a freak and tells me to get a DOG, well I think I have finally found a place that can appreciate my desire to have a hedgehog, even if it does cause severe discomfort and a whole lot of research. If anyone has ANY information or has ever heard anything like this, please let me know. My fiance has decided to be the primary handler (sweetheart that he is) so that I may at least have in my home the one pet I have always dreamed of, even if my affection is given through a latex glove. We go tomorrow to pick him out. I am determined to find a way to lavish attention on my new baby, without the barrier of latex! There's got to be a "CURE" out there somewhere!
