This may be a totally bizarre question.......
I am meeting Muzzie's grandma for dinner and an early movie. She is dying to meet the new baby and I have heard that you can travel with them as long as they are warm safe and secure. Total time out should be about 4-41/2 hours and she normally cuddles with me in her blankie anyway, so could I take her in her little homemade bag ( I am ordering the deluxe hauler from Nancy) and just carry her around and let her cuddle with me through dinner and the movie?

That should be okay. I've done that when I've brought my hogs along with me for educational presentations and demos. I put their snuggle disk in a small animal carrier with a hedgebag and off we go. Make sure to bring a few wet wipes, because I guarentee that they are going to go potty at least once during that outing! ;)

Forget that (Sorry)! Should I risk it with being such a new owner? :banghead: Is it risky? Out of curiosity who travels with their hedgies and how? I was going to just do the movie with her in a bag exactly like the deluxe travel bag nancy sells but with fleece of my own. 3 hours including travel.

I travel with mine. I bring along a hedgie bag and put them in a little cloth carrier. Some hedgies get motion sickness and throw up though...just a warning!

When the weather was warmer I would bring Bosco with me all over the place. I have a small carrying bag for him, and would just add some blankies so that he could hide underneath them. He didnt seem to mind at all. In fact, he would spend most of the time sleeping (big suprise there )
I found that brining Bosco out with me was a great way of getting him used to being around other people as well. He grew alot more tollarant of being touched, and handled by people other than me by coming out for visits.
In the near future, I will be commuting twice a week to visit my boyfriend on the weekends. Bosco will be coming along. I am going to buy him a small cat kennel (so that he is safer in the car). I will also purchase some hand warmers to keep him cozy warm (and just in case if we have any car trouble). As well, Im considering purchasing a snuggle safe disk. We will see though.
Good luck on your outting!

We did it!! used a little soft backpack like the one I'm getting from Nancy, but not as nice. Lots of blankies for warmpth and the snuggle disk too. She seems ok in the car and didn't get pukey from the vet trip either. Lots of cuddle time and the movie was not too loud which I was worried about. I left her in the bag cause I figured all the new smells etc and noise too. She was a little warm lump on my lap and got to meet grama before and after the movie. Grammy gave her bugs for a treat when she unrolled for her. :applause:

Did anyone at the movies notice her or the bag? I wonder what they'd think if they did :)

I had her in her bag during the movie cause I was worried about noise. It was lined with a towel, then she went in in her blankie which she lays on and covers her also. This was a quiet movie tho otherwise we were so outta there. :) My Mom was dying to see her so we took her out before and after the move and Grammy got to feed her some bugs. :slurp: Some people saw her and ood and awwd and she really lapped it up. She has gotten so friendly so fast. Gramma held her on her lap 1/2 the time and the smile on her face.......it was just like when she used to hold her new grandbabies. :D She seems fine with car travel so YAY! It was really surprizing to me how well she did. BRAG BRAG ;)
