Does anyone have any tips as to how to encourage litter box use?

I would scoop up all of your hedgehog's little poos and put them in the litter box. Do this a couple of times a day. They usually get the idea after awhile.

In addition to putting the the feces in the litter are try keeping litter in one section of the cage, preferrably under the wheel and at the farthest side from the food & water bowls and the nest area. This is what I have done in my hhs cage and it seems to help. I line the cages with newspaper and then put litter in one section under their wheel. You need to be a little vigilant about picking up stray feces but some pogs will get the hang of it and actually use the litter area while others won't.

Nothing works with Odo. She goes where she wants no matter what I do. I have a bag of YN that is just sitting there. I am hoping I can get Marco to be litter trained when he gets here.

Patience is the key, and also knowing that some will never take to the litter box.:(

My hedgehog was litter trained. And the one I had before her was REALLY litter trained. He just had to go in that box!

Ok, so this is interesting........I found out my girl will use the litter box when her wheel is not in her cage. When the wheel is in, that is where she goes. I sometimes take out the wheel for one night or two when her tiny feet get a little messy. So far this is all it takes to get them back to being clean.

I don't think we are ready for baths yet, especially since she is quilling alot right now and a little grumpy. Anyway, when the wheel is out she goes in her litter box only......hmmmmmmm..........Like potty training a little kid......when they are busy doing something they love......it's just too much trouble to stop to go potty.

Well, to confuse matters more, last night she peed and pood in her litter box before going on her wheel for a spin. S  She barely peed and pood her wheel at all. Who knows, and for me honestly, who cares! I'm just happy she is peeing and pooing and healthy!!
