How long do they live?

For some reason I have 8 years in my head, but I don't know where I got that age from. I was just reading somewhere that they only live 3-5 years!!! Doris is 4 already!!! Please tell me that we still have years together.

They average about 4 years I believe but some live to 8 years. Of course we all hope ours will be the 8 years.

How sad... Hopefully Doris will live a long long time still. She may be our first, but I doubt the last.

I have read 4-10 years but everyone keeps telling me that they only live to 4-5 but I have one that is going on 8 and a half years old and he is healthy as when he was younger so I gues it all depends on their diet and heritage.

A lot of that has to do with diet, care, health, heretiage and what not. I've talked with my vet about how they tend to get tumors, I would assume this would bring the average lifespan down in general. I would say it's a hog to hog bases.
